There is nothing greater than sitting down to read a good book! Fortunately, for those of us who can read, a good book is easy to find. No matter how wasted and lifeless most forms of entertainment become, there will always be people willing to pen a good tale. Whatever genre you enjoy, there are a multitude of talented, well-versed authors to choose from.
This is one medium of entertainment that I personally never tire of and am never disappointed by. Yes, there are books that come out that I don't like, but there will always be more than enough of them that I will like to keep me coming back for more. With hundreds of genres to choose from, there is bound to be something for everyone. Just keep looking, you'll find one that suits you (hell, two or three, most likely).
Reading is the ultimate form of escapism. Who needs drugs or alcohol, things that could eventually lead to death? Find a book and loose yourself in it; new worlds, new creatures, new adventures, new ideas, and new knowledge. Whatever you choose to read you will come away from it at least a little changed. Your imagination could be stirred, you might learn a new fact, or even find a new way to view an old problem. Fact or fiction, the past or the future, it is all within your reach.
If you chose not to read, then you are missing out on hundreds of worlds of knowledge and thousands of worlds of fantasy. You are really the only one being hurt by your decision, but the damage will run deeper than you could know. Reading is easy and it won't hurt you; try it some time, I'd bet you will enjoy it. I'd even be willing to bet you would learn something that you never even considered before.
There are almost as many magazine titles as there are book titles. There are 'zines for every conceivable hobby, genre, activity, and idea that have ever been imagined. If you enjoy doing it there is undoubtedly a magazine devoted to it. Magazines can be caches of knowledge or fountains of entertainment, no matter what your personal thoughts or feelings.
Take the E-zine you are currently reading, for example; it is basically devoted to social and political ramblings, with a few jaunts into other (more frightening) areas on occasions. We have a multitude of devoted followers and just as many detractors. Whether you love it or hate it, whether you agree or disagree, whatever you read is likely to bring about a new thought or idea. I personally believe that no matter what your interest, reading about it will give you a better understanding of it and will also increase your enjoyment of it. So stop by the newsstand and grab a magazine or two; you might learn something new.
