Is it just me, or has this topic gotten old?
Okay, in this series I've managed to paint women as just about everything from self-loathing manipulators and hypocritical man-haters to a living ideal revered by most men. Does this reflect some degree of confusion on my part, or some amount of inconsistency? Perhaps...yet it's true, every bit of it. This is the strange hold women have over men; even if we find ourselves in a physical fight, there's still that "I can't hit her, she's a woman!" conditioning that can cripple us. Does this make me a dreaded porcine member of the male chauvanist society? No, it just means that I refuse to blindly swallow politically correct notions about women when I have observed otherwise. Hey, this is a zine dedicated to speaking the truth; what did you expect? Curiously enough, I got absolutely no dissent through email; the only disagreement I heard was when I showed individual pieces to a couple of Average Women, and they were either unable or unwilling to articulate their disagreement logically.
Anyway, on to editorial news. Pretty soon, this zine's going to be moving to a new ISP. (If you were wondering why there wasn't a new issue last week, that had something to do with it; there were some email problems that took a few days to work out.) What does this mean to you? Well, not a whole lot, if you're smart. All the email addresses will remain the same, and the http://gotc.base.org address and all the links will still work...so if you've bookmarked that address, you shouldn't notice much of a change at all. However, if you've manually bookmarked a page that does not use the gotc.base.org prefix, that bookmark will break when we move. You can fix this by editing any bookmarks you have within the GOTC pages to go through gotc.base.org instead of their current address.
Incidentally, at the same time this zine moves, my home page will also be moving. Again, the same general guidelines apply - going through http://rev-bob.home.ml.org will still work, but any other prefix will break. I'm telling you all this now so you won't be caught unaware when the change finally does occur - which looks to be sometime next week.
[UPDATE: It's been a while, and so this has changed a bit. See the new information page for the details.]
On another subject, it looks like we may have a change in columnists coming up soon. I haven't heard from Hamm in a while, so I don't know if he's abandoning his post or simply busy. More information will follow as I get it. Also, another columnist has expressed interest in signing up. I can't say much more about it than that just yet, though. There are also rumors that The Prodigal Son may soon be returning....
There are some other expansion plans I have for the future, ranging in scope from new gags on the front page to fake ads in strategic places. Unfortunately, that's going to have to wait until we get settled in at our new home and I get time to work on the ideas. You can help, though. Is there a topic you'd like to see covered here? Do you have an idea for a gag you'd like to see in the rotating slogan hopper? Does some aspect of the zine not come across well on your machine? Would you perhaps like to actually write for the zine? If so, write to me with any of these comments and tell me about your beef. (On second thought, perhaps you'd better pull your pants back up and keep your beef to yourself.) You can always reach me through the "Email Editor" button you'll see on every page.
